In Lviv, more than one-third of the residents have received two vaccination shots against Covid-19, while in the Lviv region, it’s about a quarter of the population. Lviv Now summarised the vaccination rates provided by the Lviv City Council.

«The dynamics of vaccination among the residents is quite high, there are 11 mass vaccination points in the city, and vaccination points also work at each polyclinic. On average, we vaccinate 7-8 thousand people every day», – said Yevhen Boyko, acting Director of the Lviv City Council’s Department of Humanitarian Policy.

According to the City Council, about 56% of people in Lviv were vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine, and about 37% with two doses. Among them, the vaccination among education workers reaches 96% – under the threat of losing employment by 8 November–so this Wednesday 10 November the city will decide whether to permit offline studying in the schools where 100% of the staff has received two shots.

In the Lviv region, rates are generally lower, though the resort city of Morshyn has already passed the 74% level of vaccination with both doses, which reportedly grants herd immunity to the locals.

«As of the morning of 5 November, more than 23% of the adult population in the Lviv region was vaccinated with two doses. More than 35% are those who received the first dose. From 18 to 22 thousand people are vaccinated daily. Among covid-hospital patients, only 146 are vaccinated. This means that 97% of people who are hospitalized are not vaccinated», – the head of the health department of Lviv regional state administration Orest Chemerys commented.

It will be recalled that most residents of Lviv and the region choose the Comirnaty vaccine of the American company Pfizer in terms of popularity – to date, 537,827 people have received two doses of it. In second place is the Coronavac vaccine produced by the Chinese firm Sinovac, which was given to 316,396 people. Vaccine of the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca is the least used in the Lviv region – a total of 149,308 people got it.

We will share data on which particular vaccines locals are choosing when we have it.
