Six monuments of the Soviet era still stay in the villages of the Stryi community and are planned to be dismantled. The corresponding decision «On the dismantling of monuments symbolizing the aggressive militarism of the Soviet era on the territory of the Stryi City Council» was made by deputies. This was reported by the City Council’s press service.

In particular, dismantling will be applied to the objects in the following villages:
Nezhukhiv – a monument to soldiers who died in World War II;
Zhulyn – a monument to soldiers who died in the Soviet-German war;
Dashava – a monument to the «Soviet Liberator»;
Semyhyniv – a memorial to the fallen Soviet pilots;
Khodovychi – a monument to the «Soviet soldier-liberator»;
Pyatnychany – a monument to «Soviet pilot Ivan Kovtun».
It will be recalled that a number of street names in Lviv will be changed due to their connection to famous Russian figures. Also, the dismantling of the Eternal Flame Memorial of Glory at the intersection of Sambirska and Ivana Franka streets began in Drohobych (see below)
