The traditional Victory Parade took place on Red Square in Moscow, but this year, it was not as majestic and sublime as before. The expected official announcements from Putin about the war against Ukraine or mobilization in Russia were not made either. This is how Ukrainians reacted to the «victory-obsessed parade» on social networks.
Ukrainian journalist and columnist Victoriya Khadzhyradyeva wrote that everyone was anxiously awaiting May 9, expecting some cynical act from Putin. Until now, Putin has threatened the world with nuclear weapons, and in this context, Russia looks like a fascist.
«The victory parade on May 9 in Moscow is already cynical, because modern neo-fascists cannot celebrate the victory over fascism. This time, no world leader, not even the dictator of neighbouring Belarus, has volunteered to come and watch this rattling of weapons and intimidation of the world with this «power.» Because no one wants to have anything in common with savages who threaten the world with nuclear weapons,» – she wrote.
The Russians themselves consider the parade shameful and inappropriate, blaming Ukraine for all troubles. Such outrage is heard in the conversations intercepted by the Security Service of Ukraine, the Facebook user Volodymyr Volod’ka writes.
«After experiencing all the economic troubles and military failures, most Russian citizens decided that Ukraine was to blame for this – because it staged fierce resistance to the occupiers. «I don’t know what this parade is for. Who needs it? It’s all a shame... No one is in the mood... A complete idiocy. Everyone walks drowning and sad... Well, most people. They understand that it’s also tough with the jobs now, with these sanctions. A bullsh*t, in short...,» – the Russian states on the record,» – the user notes.

But it is unlikely that this recorded woman, like many other Russian citizens, will ever understand that Russia was the first to disgrace itself in this war.
«The parade in Moscow took place without declaring mobilization and «war» on Ukraine. During his speech, Putin complained that the collective West had not given Russia «security guarantees» and that Russia had «no choice but to attack Ukraine,» – wrote journalist Nadiya Antonenko.
«Still, the emperor is naked! It’s unbelievable: to have trillions of money and thousands of nuclear warheads, but to look so wretched. Akela didn’t miss. Akela shitted...», – this way Vsevolod Polishchuk signed an excerpt from a video of Putin’s speech at the parade, referring to the meme with the character from Kipling’s book.
«Putin’s speech today on Red Square is frankly weak – confusing, without structure and without emotion. Speech of an upset and tired person. This is noticeable,» – Mykhailo Basarab wrote.

In addition, the air part of the «victorious» parade was cancelled, allegedly due to bad weather conditions. The demonstration of the planes was to take place in 10 cities of the Russian Federation, and in almost all of them, except Moscow, the sky was clear.
«Bad weather, due to which planes did not fly at the parade of Russian troops in Moscow, was arranged by Ukrainian guys with MANPADS. This is a good sign that there are no planes in Russia at the parade. So there are not so many of them to go to Moscow for a demonstration parade. Or the planes from the parades even have technical problems, so they decided not to take risks. The weather is good, and there are no planes at the parade,» – media coordinator Vitalii Ovcharenko stated.
Former People’s Deputy, Ihor Mosiychuk, says Putin did not look as «strong» at the parade as he said before, and Ukraine will still have its own victory parade.
«After the parade in Moscow, Putin was blown away and looked like a used condom. No one is afraid of this dwarf, and the whole free world has united against him and his country, and he already understands that. Putin at the mausoleum and emptiness around him, and we have Victory and our Victory Parade ahead of us!» – Mosiychuk wrote.
Germany and Japan, which lost in World War II, managed to build an economic and technological paradise, while Russia celebrated Victory Day 77 times, says the creative editor of the Ukrainian broadcast «Facts of the Week» Maxym Krapivny.
«As long as the countries of the civilized world invest in the future, Russia is investing in the past. The Victory Parade is a symbol of failure because Russia cannot offer its citizens anything but naphthalene «greatness». Neither democracy, nor technology, nor a full life, nor prospects. Today, on «victory day», world-class troll Joe Biden will sign a law on land leases for Ukraine. And Russia will be able to solemnly celebrate the day of victory over itself,» – he wrote.
