In the event of the intensifying of Russian aggression, the churches of Lviv are ready to host internally displaced people and provide basements for arranging shelters. The Council of Bishops has compiled a list of temples that have large rooms and are ready to provide them with shelter, the Lviv City Council states.

According to Father Pavlo Drozdiak, the church is a place where citizens can find protection. Temples can become not only shelters but also field hospitals.
«Our temples as buildings can also serve as a shelter for our citizens if necessary. Therefore, there was a meeting of representatives of all the churches of our city – the Council of Bishops, where, in particular, the opportunity was voiced to use the church premises as possible shelters if necessary. Therefore, officials inspected the temples for such a possibility. The church is ready to open its doors, ready to become not only a shelter but even a field hospital,» – he said.
If necessary, the list of basements in temples can be expanded.

It will be recalled that the Lviv Council of Bishops held a meeting last week and decided that in the event of an emergency, the invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, the temples of Lviv are ready to host and care for internally displaced people and provide their basements for shelter. The premises of the churches were to be inspected and, if possible, prepared, as most of them were involved in catechetical services and other parish activities.
