Maye Musk, a nutritionist, model, and mother of SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk will be a guest of IT Arena, the eighth annual global tech idea-sharing conference in Lviv, which in recent years attracts thousands of visitors. This year’s event, October 7-9, will be in a hybrid in-person and online format. Musk’s talk itself will take place on Friday, October 8, at 17:30 (EEST) and will be held in the format of an online chat.

Throughout her career, Musk has focused on helping women stay confident, purposeful, and strong. According to the Lviv IT Cluster, organizer of the IT Arena, during her speech, Maye will focus on women’s empowerment and their impact on the development of the technological sphere.
«Maye Musk is a well-known nutritionist, who takes part in events around the world, reporting on health, nutrition, doing business and aging. Maye’s life wasn’t always easy and glamorous – she became a single mother at the age of thirty-one, struggling with poverty to provide a decent life for her three children; she dealt with the problem of perceiving overweight as a plus-size model, and managed to overcome ageism in the modelling industry «, – writes Lviv IT Cluster.
Maye Musk was born in 1948 in Canada, but her family shortly moved to Pretoria in South Africa. She began her modeling career at the age of 15. And at 60 years old, Musk appeared on four billboards in Times Square. Now, at 73, she is the face of the brand «Covergirl», traveling and participating in fashion campaigns.
In 1997, Maye published her book Feel Fantastic about nutrition, fitness and self-confidence. She also won the Outstanding Nutrition Entrepreneur award, and her book The Woman Makes a Plan became an international bestseller in more than 70 countries. In 2021, the book was published in Ukrainian translation.
IT Arena is an annual event taking place in Lviv, where the experts from around the world share their ideas about technology and trends. As Lviv IT Cluster states on its website, the project is organized for the people whose life motto is «to move forward, move for innovation». For the first time, IT Arena was held at the stadium «Arena Lviv» in 2014, and since that time it’s attendance has grown to more than 4 thousand participants in 2020.
