Lviv has been working for several years to create the «Lem Station» public space. Here citizens will be able to communicate, relax, work and exchange ideas. In a comment to Lviv Now, Lem Station CEO, Mykhailo Lemak said at what stage the construction is currently underway and how much they plan to invest in the creative space.

«Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we have temporarily suspended all reconstruction work. But last week, a decision was made to resume reconstruction work on the priority facility. Now, we are thinking about how to complete the second and third stages of facilities,» – he said.

It should be noted that first of all, the object where the works started includes: coworking, services for residents, parking area, additional premises, as well as improvement of the part of the territory around, where you can relax and move around the object. All other planned objects, such as maker space workshop, anticafe, concert hall, art space, food court – are still on pause.

«Now we are looking for materials needed to complete the reconstruction. We also agree with the contractors on the fulfilment of the commitments they’ve made. For example, the manufacture of transformers or other important components to ensure a particular facility,» – he added.

According to him, everything related to investment objects will be done at private expense. The total budget for the entire reconstruction is about 5-6 million dollars.

«Currently, the dollar has risen significantly, and there are additional logistics costs. There is a shortage of some materials that are important. We have an obligation to the city to invest at least 30 million hryvnias. We have already done this and invested much more, but this amount is not enough to fully implement the idea we have conceived,» – the executive director said.

We will add that all works are planned to be completed by the end of 2023.

It will be recalled that the co-authors of the Creative Quarter project presented to Lviv residents a rethought concept of transforming an old tram depot into a space favourable for generating ideas. Now, it’s called Lem Station – in honour of the Polish science fiction writer Stanislaw Lem, who was born and lived in Lviv. The project will combine innovation and the historic atmosphere of the depot.
