It’s Easter Sunday in the West; a week before Easter for most Ukrainians on the Julian calendar.
UKRAINE: The Russian military is trying to capture Mariupol, which has been under siege for more than a month and is almost completely destroyed. The occupiers can prepare for a landing in Mariupol, said Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had held a meeting on April 16 to rebuild cities and set a task at the first stage to provide temporary housing for refugees, whose homes were destroyed in the war.

A rocket attack by Russian troops in the HTZ residential district on April 15 killed 10 people, including a 7-month-old child and a 16-year-old boy. Twenty-nine of the 35 injured are receiving treatment at one of the city’s hospitals.
Olga, a local woman, was injured by a fragment of a cluster shell while walking.
«We went outside to breathe the air and came under such fire. I never thought or imagined what would happen. It was sunny, great weather, children were riding scooters, some were playing tennis on the courts, and then at one point we heard a crash. there were explosions... When it happened, blood was pouring from my feet in a fountain, just a fountain, I was lying in a puddle of blood» – Olga recalls.
In addition to Olga, there are 28 other people in this hospital, all of whom were wounded by cluster shells, a third – in serious condition. The hospital is open 24 hours a day.
Rescuers continue to clear the Industrial Area of ammunition after shelling from jet artillery systems, according to the regional State Emergency Service. One of the missiles hit a kindergarten, damaging residential high-rises.
Kyiv region
This morning, April 17, the occupiers launched a missile strike in Brovary, Kyiv region. As a result of the shelling, infrastructure facilities were damaged.
There may be power outages, water supply, and sewage, which are planned to be rectified today.
Donetsk region
Near Mariinka and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region, Russian invaders attempted an offensive, but without success.
Enemies also shelled the Avdiivka, Toretska and Ocheretynska communities, destroying some infrastructure. At the same time, the situation in Mariupol is unchanged.
Mykolayiv region
An explosion was heard in Mykolayiv in the morning, details are being clarified. During the day, the occupiers also fired on peaceful areas of the region.

Luhansk region
Enemies fired on Lysychansk Hospital and Oil refinery.
During the night, four residential buildings in Severodonetsk came under Russian target.
On the morning of April 17, Kreminna was shelled and at least one person was injured. Positional battles in Popasna and Rubizhne.
Kherson region
Russian invaders shelled the Kherson region during the day. But so far there is no information on the destruction and casualties. The region is in a humanitarian crisis in many settlements, the situation is getting worse.

The situation is consistently difficult. There are still active battles in the Izium direction, so residents of Lozova and Barvinkovo are urged to intensify the evacuation.
