Lviv, Ukraine – This map has been circulating around the internet with a caption saying, ‘look how big Ukraine is, this will be a huge war!»
But there’s another way to see it:
A full Russian invasion might be implausible. Invading Ukraine is not like invading Lichtenstein. it is the largest country wholly within Europe.

It is a country of people who, against all odds, and against the Berkut secret police, won their liberty in 2014 by peacefully but adamantly standing in the streets for months during a cold winter, in the Revolution of Dignity.
Citizens create a barricade in the streets of Kyiv during the Euromaidan Revolution.
Then months later, when Moscow tried to take Ukraine, the people, with fairly limited military assistance, protected major cities from Russian occupation.
Since then allies have trained and equipped the Ukrainian military. And despite their gentle-sounding language, the attitude of the people is fierce, such as women at an IT company learning how to shoot and fight with knives afterwork.
Ukraine is likely stronger than is being portrayed.

Meanwhile, the city’s life continues. You can find the live music schedule here. And tomorrow please note this recently-added show at the Mad bar house.
