This winter, Ukrainian producer Oleksandr Shchur and director Stanislav Tiunov will shoot a drama film «Bucha» depicting the atrocities of the Russian military in the Kyiv region. The trailer appeared on September 13, the day of the city of Bucha, Ukrainska Pravda reports.

The plot of the film is devoted to real events in Bucha, Vorzel, Hostomel and Irpin during the Russian occupation in February-April 2022. The film will tell about the rescue of 203 local residents by Konstantyn Guddauskas, a citizen of Kazakhstan who received political asylum in Ukraine and lives in Bucha.

Thanks to his Kazakh passport, the man could drive through the territory occupied by the Russians and take out civilians, simultaneously witnessing the crimes of the Russian troops. The film will also include a scene of the rescue of the famous Ukrainian composer Ihor Poklad, who stayed in his home in Vorzel during those events.

«After it was unveiled in April what was happening in Bucha and other cities of Ukraine that had been occupied, it became clear that the whole world should learn about the tragedy of the Ukrainian people. We believe that the implementation of this project will help Ukraine attract the attention of the international community and encourage to increase economic and military aid in the future,» – says the film’s producer Oleksandr Shchur.

The shooting of «Bucha» is planned for December-January, and it will be premiered on the tragedy’s anniversary. The casting of the actors is currently underway, but the role of the main antagonist of the film will be played by the Ukrainian actor Vyacheslav Dovzhenko, who previously received the «Golden Dzyga» national award for the best male role.

Filming will take place at the expense of foreign investors, while fundraising in Ukraine won’t be held due to the active involvement of Ukrainians in fundraising for the needs of the Armed Forces.
