Poland, Romania, and Ireland topped the list of EU countries that sheltered the most Ukrainians who went abroad because of the war during June, among those countries with available data at the time of publication. This was stated in the Eurostat report.

«In June, more than 60 thousand Ukrainians received temporary protection in Poland. In second place are Romania (10,360) and Ireland (about 6,990). It should be noted that the report does not include data on a number of countries, including Germany and the Czech Republic, where a large number of Ukrainians go, so after the statistics are supplemented, the top three may change,» – the report informs.

If we take into account the number of people accepted in relation to the number of their own population, the largest share of Ukrainians was accepted by Poland (1.6 per thousand of its population), Latvia (1.5 per thousand of its population), Ireland (1.4 per thousand) and Lithuania (1.3 per thousand). The number of people receiving temporary protection decreased significantly in all 19 member states for which data are available: in Poland – by almost 36,000 compared to May, in Lithuania – by more than 13,400, in Bulgaria – by almost 13,000, Romania – by 10 thousand.

In total, as of June, 1.2 million Ukrainians received temporary protection status in Poland, over 118 thousand in Bulgaria, almost 65 thousand in France, almost 49 thousand in Lithuania, about 48 thousand in Belgium, and about 43.5 thousand in Romania. About a quarter of all Ukrainians who applied for temporary protection are children, most of them in Poland (26% of the total number of Ukrainians who received protection in the country). More than 70% of Ukrainian children in the EU are not older than 14 years.

We will remind you that Ukrainians who found refuge in Poland got access to medical care in this country on the same level as its citizens. For this, it’s necessary to have a foreign passport of a citizen of Ukraine, in which there is a mark about crossing the border after February 24, 2022.
