ISW has announced the latest news from Bakhmut: Battle Map

The Armed Forces continue to repulse endless Russian attacks in the Bakhmut area

The occupying forces continue their offensive on Bakhmut despite heavy losses in equipment and personnel.

The latest news from the front is reported by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The message indicates that on December 4, the Russians continued to carry out ground attacks in the Bakhmut area. The General Staff of Ukraine reported that during the day, the Armed Forces repulsed Russian attacks northeast of Bakhmut in the Berestove, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, and Bakhmutske areas and south of Bakhmut in the Opytne, Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Kurdyumivka areas.

Sources in Georgia and Ukraine confirmed the information that the Russian occupiers managed to surround the Ukrainian detachment of volunteers from Georgia. As a result of the fighting, six soldiers were killed, and the commander was wounded.

The Ukrainian military reports heavy fighting in Opytne, south of Bakhmut. In turn, the Russian military claims that the capture of Opytne will be of decisive importance for the further offensive on Bakhmut. The Russians also claim that the Ukrainian military launched an unsuccessful counterattack in Kurdyumivka (13 km southwest of Bakhmut) and that fighting continues in several settlements south of Bakhmut.

Serhii Cherevatyi, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of Ukrainian Forces, reported that the Russians lost approximately 50 people killed and the same number wounded during the day of fighting around Bakhmut. The command of the Russian troops ordered not to bring artillery shells close to the front because of the successful strikes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the warehouses of the aggressors.

The Border Service reports that the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber on the outskirts of Bakhmut on December 3. The Russians continue their attacks near Bakhmut, despite heavy losses in equipment and personnel, to achieve at least some limited success, which will be of limited operational benefit.

ISW analysts also published a map of battles in the Bakhmut area.
