In Drohobych, a new boiler house was put into operation in a test mode. It will reduce gas consumption by 20% in the heating season, Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma stated in a comment for Lviv Now.
«The idea of creating a new boiler house arose two years ago when we realized that problems with gas could start because of Russia. We decided to switch to alternative methods. We found an investor who took the risk and built the first heating plant. It will provide 20% of the city’s population, but we plan to cover 50% by the end of the heating season,» – he said.

According to him, the new boiler house will reduce gas consumption by 20%. It will be replaced by alternative types of fuel – wood chips and waste from the agricultural sector. At the same time, the mayor noted that the price of gas will not be raised. In the future, the regional authorities plan to equip another boiler house already in Stebnyk, Lviv region.
The project is being financed with the funds of the investor company «Alterenergo Zakhid». According to the Youcontrol analytical system, the company was registered last year in Zhytomyr. The main type of activity includes supply of steam, hot water and air conditioning.
