Flying to Europe from Lviv. List, prices of routes plus entry requirements

Several European countries, including Montenegro and Germany, have recently changed their entry conditions for Ukrainian citizens. Lviv Now has compiled a list of popular destinations for Ukrainians, the country of entry and the closest flight possibilities.

Cyprus 

As of 6 January 2022, entry into the Republic of Cyprus (including for tourist purposes) is allowed under the following conditions:

  • all passengers over the age of 12 arriving in the Republic of Cyprus must have a PCR test at least 72 hours before departure;
  • have a confirmation of registration on the CyprusFlightPass platform (https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy);
  • after arrival in Cyprus to pass laboratory control. The cost of laboratory control is 15 euros at Larnaca Airport and 19 euros at Paphos Airport. The test result will be available at www.covidtest-cyprus.com for 3 hours;

People who come to the Republic of Cyprus and refuse to undergo a PCR laboratory test will be sent to state quarantine for a period of 14 days and released from it on the 7th day in case of a negative PCR laboratory test. The costs of quarantine and testing are reimbursed by such persons.

Spain 

Starting from 1 February 2022, to enter Spain from Ukraine, you need: 

  • to show a certificate of vaccination, which has passed 14 days from the date of the last dose of the full course, while the period after the date of the last dose should not exceed 270 days. After that, the certificate must also contain information about the presence of a «booster» dose;
  • passengers arriving from high-risk countries, in particular where there has been a significant deterioration in the epidemiological situation or in which there have been strains of particular concern, regardless of the full vaccination certificate (after 14 days of the last vaccine dose) or recovery, must also show at the entrance a diagnostic certificate (test results for active infection Covid-19) with a negative result. Ukraine is also included in this list.

Montenegro

Montenegrin authorities have changed the rules of entry for Ukrainian tourists. From January 13 to 19, only one of the documents will be needed to cross the border. 

In particular, to get to Montenegro, Ukrainians need to have one of the following documents:

  • confirmation of full vaccination provided that the second dose of vaccine is given no later than six months before entry;
  • negative PCR test not older than 72 hours;
  • negative rapid test for antigen not older than 48 hours;
  • confirmation of Covid-19 disease (positive PCR or rapid antigen test, which should be at least 10 days and not more than 180 days).

Poland

From 15 December, Ukrainians can enter Poland subject to a negative SARS-CoV-2 test, in Polish or English, taken no earlier than 24 hours before crossing the border, counting from the time the test was performed. The test can be done both in the country from which the person comes and in Poland. It is important that this requirement also applies to the vaccinated.

Students studying in the Republic of Poland or in a neighbouring country and guardians accompanying them, as well as children attending kindergartens in the Republic of Poland and neighbouring countries accompanied by guardians, are exempted from the obligation to take the test.

Germany

From 9 January 2022, general rules apply when entering Ukraine from Germany. Accordingly, all travellers over the age of six must provide:

  • negative test result. The Covid-19 test (antigen test or PCR test) must be completed no more than 48 hours before the (scheduled) time of entry. In case of arrival by transport of the carrier (for example, airline), the PCR test is allowed to pass a maximum of 48 hours before the (scheduled) time of the start of transportation (departure time); the antigen test is also allowed to take place no more than 48 hours before the (planned) time of the beginning of transportation if it is carried out by the carrier company;
  • certificate of full vaccination course or certificate of recovery (vaccination must be performed with one of the vaccines: Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen).

Czech Republic

Entry into the Czech Republic is allowed:

  • after a full course of vaccination with one of the vaccines: AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Janssen, Covishield, provided that at least 14 days have passed since vaccination with the second dose;
  • from 27 December, foreigners who do not have a residence permit in the Czech Republic must additionally present a negative PCR test (not older than 72 hours) when entering the Czech Republic. A negative test result should not be shown by persons who have a third dose of vaccination with certified vaccines, children under 12 years of age, as well as children from 12 to 18 years of age who have completed a full course of vaccination (2 doses);
  • citizens of Ukraine who have a residence permit in the Czech Republic or a visa issued by the authorities of the Czech Republic, as well as citizens of Ukraine who have a residence permit in another EU country;
  • citizens of Ukraine in exceptional humanitarian situations in the presence of supporting documents issued by the Czech authorities, in particular: a certificate from a doctor or medical institution; summons; invitations from a state body; certificate of the need for proper care of the person (from a doctor or social service) and documents confirming family ties with this person; court decision on establishing custody of the child or meetings with her; a letter from the competent ministry of the Czech Republic stating that the arrival of a person is in the interests of the Czech Republic;
  • citizens of Ukraine who have a certificate of recovery from Covid-19, issued in the state application «Diia» or on the portal (with QR code, sample here), provided that at least 11 days and no more than 180 days have passed since the first positive test; 
  • minors travelling with their legal representative who is valid for Covid-19 vaccination or recovery.

Lviv – Prague:

Austria

Entry into the country is possible only for fully vaccinated or those who have recently endured the disease.

Entrance without registration and without quarantine is possible: 

  • with a certificate of full vaccination (vaccines Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen, CoronaVac) one of the following vaccines + negative PCR test;
  • with confirmation of recovery from COVID-19 (a medical or official certificate that the infection has been overcome in the last 180 days, issued in English or German) + negative PCR test.

A medical certificate for the presence of neutralizing antibodies is no longer considered proof of the disease! Vaccination/recovery certificates in the «Diia» application, paper certificates from the «Diia» portal with the QR code and paper certificates from the family doctor (so-called yellow certificate) are recognized by the Austrian side, however, they must be issued exclusively in English or German, including information about dose and type of vaccine.

Please note that with the Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine, crossing the Austrian border is allowed, but staying in a hotel or visiting food establishments is prohibited.

Portugal 

In January 2022, entry for citizens of Ukraine is allowed under the following conditions:

Mainland Portugal – entry requires:

  • show a certificate of a negative coronavirus test result (PCR test performed no more than 72 hours before the submission of the document, or a rapid laboratory test for antigen performed no more than 48 hours before the submission of the document, or Covid- certificate of test results);
  • Citizens of Ukraine who make an «unimportant» (including tourist) trip must show a Covid-certificate of full vaccination or a certificate of recovery (European Covid-certificate or Ukrainian digital Covid-certificate generated in the application «Diia», with QR code, provided that more than 14 days have elapsed since the last dose of Janssen or AstraZeneca or Moderna or Pfizer vaccination);
  • You also need to fill out the form at https://portugalcleanandsafe.pt/en/passenger-locator-card (it is recommended to fill in the form after check-in for the flight on which travellers arrive in Portugal and before boarding the plane).

The above does not apply to children under 12 years.

The next flight to Portugal is offered by Wizzair – 29 March at a cost of almost 100 euros. 

Ryanair does not offer flights yet.

France 

According to France’s assessment of the incidence rate in the world at Covid-19, Ukraine is included in the list of countries of the so-called «red» zone. Entry is allowed under the following conditions: 

  • if the citizens of Ukraine are vaccinated with one of the vaccines permitted in France (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Jansen). In this case, vaccination is considered complete if 28 days have passed since the vaccination with Janssen vaccine and 7 days since the second dose in the case of vaccination with other vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeeca / Vaxzevria / Covishield).
  • in addition to the vaccination certificate, a PCR test performed no more than 48 hours or an antigen test no more than 48 hours prior to entry must be presented.
  • if a citizen of Ukraine has not been vaccinated, he can enter France only if he presents a document confirming the urgent need to enter France, as well as in the presence of a PCR test done in no more than 48 hours or a test for antigen made no earlier than 48 hours before entry, pass the antigen test at a French airport upon arrival and adhere to a 10-day self-isolation.

These entry conditions apply to both adults and children (over 12 years old).

Italy 

16 December 2021, Italy stopped the passage of travellers. According to the decision made 14 December, Ukraine was transferred to Group E, which is banned from entering for most passengers. It should be noted that entry will be allowed only to citizens of Italy or the European Union, as well as family members or those who have «established relations» with residents of Italy. In addition, people who study, work or travel to Italy through sports competitions will be able to get to Italy.

However, even these people will have to go through a ten-day quarantine upon arrival in Italy. Currently, such rules for tourists from Ukraine should be in force until 31 January 2022, but this does not guarantee that the updated rules will remove the ban.

The nearest Wizzair flights from Lviv to Italy are available from March 28. It costs about UAH 1,100. Ryanair will sell tickets from Lviv to Italian cities from February 2 at a cost of 8 euros.
