From Friday-Sunday, 3-5 December, Lviv and five other cities of Ukraine and Poland will host Jazz Bez («Jazz Without») – the XXI International Festival of Contemporary Improvisational Music and the largest jazz festival in Europe, founded by a recently deceased Lviv impresario, Markiyan (Marek) Ivashchyshyn. This year’s theme: «Musical luxury of adulthood.»

«Jazz Bez is a symbol of the victorious power of music and people of culture. This year, we have again chosen an open location: Ennio Event Square, where musicians and spectators will be comfortably seated at the distance, which is safe but convenient for concerts. Among the invited stars are musicians from the United States, Switzerland, Bolivia, and, of course, Polish and Ukrainian artists,» – a statement on the official Facebook page of the festival said.

Lviv offers two concert days, as well as a separate day for schoolchildren and students, who will have a chance to study and get a close acquaintance with jazz music.
Friday 3 December
Friday 3 December Ennio Event Square (Dzherelna Street, 22), where at 19:00, the professor of the Krakow Academy of Music Piotr Wyleżoł will take the stage to present the new program «Weband» together with Marcin Dominik Kaletka, David Hodek, Mac Mucha.
Lviv Now’s sister publication, Tvoe Misto will broadcast the event on its resources on Facebook and YouTube–and via this website.
At 20:30, American legendary vocalist Ingrid Arthur will take the stage. Together with Ukrainian and Polish musicians, she is preparing a special program of hits, soul, gospel, and funk music in jazz arrangements.
Afterward, the LV Café will host a show with the Igor Zakus quartet (200 uah entry; info here via Facebook).
Saturday 4 December
Antonio Flinta quartet, Italy, will listen to Ennio Event Square Saturday 4 December at 19:00. And from 20:30, the unique eco-jazz project «Paykuna», Switzerland – Bolivia will play.
Afterward, the LV Café jazz club will host a late night jam session (info here via Facebook).

Sunday 5 December
And Sunday 5 December, the final concert of the Lviv Jazz School students under the direction of drummer and teacher Ihor Hnydyn will take place – at 19:00 in LV Café jazz club. Event info here via Facebook.
Tickets and Locations
You can purchase Ennio Event Square tickets online or at the venue. Tickets are 300 uah for each day, Friday and Saturday. For events at the LV Café, you can show up at the door (location.)

Also: The conference «Jazz Time» will take place on 3 and 4 December at the Lviv National Academy of Music at 12:00. Ukrainian and Italian teachers, composers and musicians will take part. Foreign guests will hold a master class for students of the institution on «Features of the current Italian jazz school.»
