The man who threw a bottle with «Molotov cocktail» into the fence of the Russian Consulate General in Lviv a week ago was from the occupied territories on the East of Ukraine and has nothing to do with any social movements. This was reported by the media hromadske with reference to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksii Danilov.

the official stated that the man who threw the flammable liquid at the Russian consulate was from Horlivka in the part of Donetsk region, temporarily occupied by Russia since 2014. This man, he said, has nothing to do with any social movement. Danilov commented on the incident, mentioning provocations and attempts to destabilize Ukraine.

«Such things happen periodically. But our services – the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service and counterintelligence – are working on all these issues. There are no such issues now,» he added.

The violator has already been detained. 29 December, Denys Monastyrskyi, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, announced that he was under investigation.

It will be recalled that on the night of 24 December, an unknown person threw a bottle of flammable liquid into the fence of the Russian Consulate General in Lviv. No one was injured in the incident, no damage was done to the diplomatic mission. Law enforcement officers opened a case under Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Part 4 of this article, which provides for the use of weapons during hooliganism, provides for imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years.
