Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine had offered the US a compromise: Kyiv could stop strikes on Russian oil refineries in exchange for additional air defense systems to protect energy infrastructure. However, the American side did not agree to this proposal. He said this at a press conference in Brussels, reports Yevropeiska Pravda.
Zelensky also emphasized that the agreements between the US and Russia on diesel fuel came as a surprise to Ukraine, as Kyiv had not been informed about them.

According to him, Ukraine considers agreements that concern its actions but are concluded without its participation unacceptable. In particular, this applies to responses to Russian strikes on Ukrainian territory.
At the same time, the president said that Kyiv had proposed a compromise option to the American side. Ukraine could temporarily stop strikes on Russian refineries if the US provides additional anti-ballistic systems to protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure from Russian attacks.
The president added that during meetings in the European Union he received support for his position from European colleagues.
Recall that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas supported the resumption of Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries.
