A powerful heatwave has hit Ukraine. How reported well-known meteorologist Natalka Didenko, in the near future our country will be among the hottest spots on the European continent. Tomorrow, August 5, the maximum air temperature will be +32…+39°C, and in some places, it will reach a record +40°C. No precipitation is expected during these days.

Protect yourself and your loved ones: medical advice
Extreme temperatures are a serious stress for the body. The Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention warns that prolonged exposure to the sun threatens overheating, sunburn, heatstroke, and heart problems.
Who is at risk?
Children and adolescents – their thermoregulation system is not yet fully developed.
Elderly people – due to the risks of negative UV impact on skin and blood vessels.
Intoxicated individuals – alcohol disables the sense of danger and blocks an adequate reaction to overheating.
Heat safety checklist:
Plenty of drinking water: drink clean, non-carbonated water in small portions throughout the day, without waiting until you are thirsty.
Light clothing: choose items made of natural light fabrics, don't forget a hat/cap and sunglasses.
Skin protection: apply sunscreen with SPF (UVA and UVB) 30 minutes before leaving home and reapply throughout the day.
Avoid peak activity: try not to go out in direct sunlight between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Car safety: never leave children or pets in a closed car – the interior heats up to dangerous levels in minutes.

We remind you that extremely high air temperatures create a colossal load on the cardiovascular system. Due to intense sweating, the body loses fluid and essential microelements, leading to blood thickening and a rapid increase in the risk of blood clots. Under such conditions, the likelihood of developing hypertensive crises, heart attacks, and strokes significantly increases, especially in people with chronic diseases and heart failure.
