Doctors of the National Rehabilitation Center «Nezlamni» (Unbreakable) conducted the installation of a bionic prosthesis printed on a 3D printer. The world’s lightest prosthesis, weighing no more than 675 grams, was given to 33-year-old Yurii Bakhir, who lost his arm as a result of a mine-explosive injury. This was reported in the First Medical Union of Lviv.
The TrueLimb prosthesis is a unique invention of the American company Unlimited Tomorrow. This is a primary prosthesis that can be installed immediately after the wounds on the amputated limb are healed. Thanks to special sensors, by contracting the muscles, the patient can control the prosthesis and move his fingers.
The First Medical Union notes that this is the second such prosthesis in the world installed on a Ukrainian. The first patient was 9-year-old Sasha from Bucha, who received a new hand in the USA. Other Ukrainians are also expecting such a hand, including 41-year-old Oleksandr Yashuk from Zhytomyr. A man has lost his one in the battle near Chornobyl.
We will add that Lviv medics installed the first bionic hand prosthesis to 33-year-old paratrooper Mykhailo Yurchuk, who lost an arm and a leg in spring fighting in the Kharkiv region.

Bionic prostheses are the most modern model for the upper limbs. They have an external energy source and are controlled due to a complex system of sensors that provide communication with the muscles on the preserved part of the arm. Individual finger actuators allow for a coordinated grasp of objects, and comfort is ensured by the weight-optimized arrangement of the actuators.
