German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that Berlin might provide Ukraine with information about men residing in Germany. According to him, based on this data, the Ukrainian authorities could contact them regarding military service. Wadephul said this in an interview with the German publication Bild.

According to the minister, Germany has information about Ukrainians living in its territory, particularly those registered in the country, receiving social benefits, or having a certain residency status.

Wadephul suggested that this data could be transferred to the Ukrainian side. Then, according to him, the Ukrainian government could contact the men with a notification about the need to fulfill their military duty.

At the same time, the German minister emphasized that the return of Ukrainian men to Ukraine should occur without coercion. He also noted that the possibility of such information exchange "can and must be discussed."

We remind you that in July, EU countries agreed to extend the temporary protection regime for Ukrainians until March 4, 2028.

At the same time, a requirement for fulfilling military service in Ukraine was introduced for new applicants. It will not apply to Ukrainians who already have temporary protection status in the EU.

To receive protection, new applicants must confirm the fulfillment of military duties. In particular, this can be done by presenting a passport with a stamp for legal departure from Ukraine or a paper or electronic document confirming exemption from military service or its fulfillment.
