Ukraine, together with Germany, is working on mechanisms for the return of Ukrainian men of mobilization age who, according to the ambassador, illegally left the country. This was reported in an interview with "Ukrinform" said the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev.

"I will not reveal these mechanisms yet. They are currently being discussed within the framework of this working group," stated Oleksii Makeiev.

According to him, relevant developments are being discussed within the framework of a joint Ukrainian-German working group, which also deals with issues of interaction with the Ukrainian community.

The diplomat named Unity Hub centers for Ukrainians as a separate tool for such work. The first of them has already been opened in Berlin.

Makeiev noted that through such centers, the state is expanding its presence abroad and providing citizens with more opportunities for communication and services, including consultations.

According to him, two components have been created within the framework of work with the Ukrainian community: the functioning of Unity Hub and coordination with the German side regarding the possible return of citizens. For this purpose, a working group on information exchange operates between the departments.

The ambassador also reported that there are about 1.3 million Ukrainians in Germany, a significant portion of whom are already working and paying social contributions.

The German government had previously stated the necessity of working on the return of young Ukrainian men to Ukraine.

We remind you that from July 1, Ukrainian refugees in Germany, as well as the unemployed in this country, instead of social assistance for citizens (Bürgergeld) will receive a so-called basic income (Grundsicherung). In this regard, new rules for receiving payments for employable but long-term unemployed residents of the Federal Republic of Germany are being introduced.
