Due to a Russian jet drone attack on Western Ukraine, the Polish Armed Forces scrambled fighter jets, announced an air alert, and the airports of Lublin and Rzeszów temporarily suspended flights. This is reported by TVN24.
Residents of Lublin and Podkarpackie Voivodeships received threat notifications. The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency explained the suspension of airport operations by the need to ensure freedom of action for military aviation.
Approximately an hour later, the military operation concluded, and the airports resumed operations. The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported that they deployed the necessary forces and means at their disposal.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that on the afternoon of September 17, a Russian attack drone fell near the Polish border in the Volyn region. Deputy Minister of Defense Cezary Tomczyk clarified that the operational commander issued an order for preliminary authorization and was ready to shoot down these objects. No violation of Polish airspace was reported.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine stated that no hits on border infrastructure were recorded during the Russian attack.
This is the second such incident in two days: on Wednesday, September 16, fighter jets were also scrambled in Poland's border regions and an air alert was declared due to a Russian drone attack on Ukrainian regions, and the airports of Rzeszów and Lublin temporarily suspended operations.
