On September 25, the "Days of Japan" festival will be held in Lviv for the first time. Throughout the day, themed locations with master classes, martial arts performances, lectures, an exhibition of Japanese clothing, a market, and a gastronomic program will operate on Rynok Square. This was reported by the press service of the Lviv City Council.
The festival will last from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Admission for visitors will be free. The organizers promise to release a detailed program later.
One of the central parts of the festival will be the gastronomic program with Japanese dishes, desserts, and drinks. It will be curated by Ukrainian restaurateur and gastroblogger Misha Katsurin together with Serhiy Khegai - chef and head of 101 Wine Bar and founder of the Japanese project Shima.
In the Japanese Street Food zone, visitors will be able to taste Japanese street food and learn more about its history and traditions. Their gastronomic offerings will be presented by "Yaponskyy Pryvit", Red Monkey, Shima, Katsuteira, and Omma.
Also, during the festival, there will be master classes in traditional Japanese art techniques. Visitors will be able to create origami and sumi-e works with their own hands, learn more about the art of kintsugi, and also participate in painting plates inspired by the works of the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.
Advance registration is required to participate in the master classes.
A separate part of the program will be dedicated to Japanese pop culture. At the market you will be able to purchase: original goods, books, comics, anime merchandise, and retro souvenirs. World of Comics, RetroMagaz, "Knuharnya Ye", and "Anime Barakholka" will participate in it.
In the Museum of the city, an exhibition of kimonos and yukatas will be held. A series of lectures on Japanese mythology, language, business etiquette, traditional weapons, and tea ceremony will also take place there.
In the sports area organizers will hold demonstration performances in aikido and judo.

Week of Japanese culture
"Days of Japan" in Lviv will last longer than just September 25. Throughout the week, themed events will be held in various city cultural institutions.
In particular, at the Lviv Organ Hall a concert-lecture "Japanese Flute" will take place.
At the Solomiya Krushelnytska Museum a tea ceremony and thematic excursions will be held.
Also in the program - Japan Weekend in "Horykhovyi Hai" park and Lviv Film Center, and in city libraries and "Homin Center" spaces - literary journeys, virtual tours, and masterclasses.
The organizers invite Lviv residents and city guests to join the events and learn more about Japanese culture, traditions, and modernity.
Notably, Japan Desk Lviv has been operating in Lviv for over a year - the first municipal service in Ukraine to support Japanese business. During this time, 26 meetings between Ukrainian and Japanese businesses have taken place on its basis. They have initiated partnerships in the areas of defense technologies, social infrastructure, education, and science.
