The United States of America has initiated a three-step plan for de-escalation in the talks between Kyiv and Moscow. This was stated in a comment to the publication Axios by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the head of state, the American side proposes the following:
A ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure. Ukraine is ready to agree to a mutual refusal to strike energy facilities. Zelensky noted that he proposed Donald Trump take this as the first practical step.
Resumption of the Black Sea Grain Corridor operations.
A trilateral meeting in the format of the USA - Ukraine - Russian Federation. Abu Dhabi is mentioned as a possible venue for the negotiations.
The president also added that the December G20 summit in Miami could serve as a platform for a leaders' summit.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reported that Washington had officially invited Vladimir Putin to participate in this "Group of Twenty" meeting. Moscow has not yet commented on this statement.
Meanwhile, according to Axios sources, Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev is expected to arrive in New York on September 24. He plans to meet with US President's Special Representative Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to discuss the new American proposals.
