Grain exports of the new harvest are actively underway in Ukraine. On certain routes, trucks are waiting up to eight days to cross the border, with the longest queues forming at the Polish border. This is reported by the agribusiness website "Latifundist.com".

There is also talk of rising freight rates. The main reasons include more expensive diesel fuel, a shortage of drivers and grain trucks, as well as long queues at the border.

On certain routes, trucks are waiting up to eight days to cross the border. The longest queues have formed at the Polish border. In particular, at the "Yagodyn-Dorohusk" checkpoint, 1,363 loaded and 2,098 empty trucks are waiting, at "Krakivets-Korchova" there are 1,562 trucks, and at "Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne" there are 1,472.

At the "Porubne — Siret" checkpoint, another 1,033 trucks are standing in line.

Due to prolonged downtime at the border, carriers cannot quickly return vehicles to work and carry out new trips. This is further aggravating the shortage of transport, especially on long routes.

Last week, the most grain by truck was transported to Odesa region. The main flows came from Chernihiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Kharkiv and Kyiv regions.

In the west of the country, routes from Rivne region to Khmelnytskyi, from Khmelnytskyi to Lviv, and from Chernihiv to Lviv remained active.

They add that transport costs are also affected by Russian attacks and security risks. Because of them, carriers have to change routes and cover longer distances.

Experts forecast that rates will further depend on the pace of new harvest exports, fuel prices, the number of available grain trucks, and the situation at the border. If demand remains high and transport is in short supply, freight on long routes may continue to rise.

As a reminder, in recent days a buildup of transport has been forming queues at the Ukrainian-Polish border in Lviv region being observed with queues forming.
