In the village of Demnya, Stryi district, the Church of the Mother of God of Czestochowa, a local architectural monument that had been in a neglected state for many years, has been opened. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

The church is part of the cultural heritage of the Lviv region and is included in the State Register of Immovable Monuments of Ukraine. Throughout the year, the local community, volunteers, patrons, and benefactors worked together on landscaping the territory, cleaning the premises, and preserving the structure. The work was carried out without using funds from the state or local budgets.

"When you look at the work done here, you understand that life always finds a way to rebirth. Our duty is to support it, protect it, and multiply it," is stated in the message.

It is noted that the architectural parameters of the building were not changed and the load-bearing structures were not interfered with during the work. After its opening, the space is planned to be used for cultural and artistic events, exhibitions, concerts, and educational activities.

Specialists in art and restoration joined the restoration of the church. Some of the work was done by masters experienced in restoring historical sites in Lviv, including the Citadel and the High Castle.

The history of the church dates back to the end of the 18th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, a neo-Gothic temple made of local limestone was built on this site. Over the years, the building served as a shelter, a grain storage facility, and a sports hall. In 1944, the church was closed.

Today, the opening of the church after the conservation and landscaping work is called an example of how a community can jointly restore important historical sites.
