In May, unmanned system units hit about 180,000 verified enemy targets – this is 12.7% more than in April. Additionally, about 4,000 Russian "Shahed" type drones were neutralized (+27% compared to the previous month), and approximately 10,000 positions of enemy unmanned complex operators were hit. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

It is separately noted that since the beginning of 2026, Ukrainian drone operators have neutralized 12.5 thousand more Russian soldiersthan the Russian Federation has been able to recruit for its UAV units during the same period.

The role of ground robotic complexes is also growing. In May, they completed 12.5 thousand tasks, including in logistics and evacuation. At the same time, the military notes that the potential of GRCs is significantly greater, however, there are problems with provision and supply.

During the monthly meeting on the development of unmanned systems, the application of Middle Strike systems was also analyzed. The military leadership emphasizes that the effectiveness of long-range strikes up to 200 km has increased due to the creation of coordination centers in corps, which has improved interaction between units.

At the same time, they stress that the achieved results do not diminish the need for further capacity building. Russia is also actively developing the unmanned systems sector; however, according to Ukrainian assessments, it faces problems with staffing its units.

It is separately noted that since the beginning of the year, the Russian Federation has recruited about 14.5 thousand people into UAV units – approximately 21% of the planned figure. Also, according to assessments, the attempt to recruit students into these units did not yield the expected effect.

We remind you that the Chongar Bridgewhich Russian troops use for communication between occupied Crimea and the seized part of the Kherson region, has been completely disabled after a repeated strike.
