Hasidim are urged not to travel to Uman this year due to the security situation

The ministry emphasized that due to Russian shelling and martial law, Ukraine cannot guarantee the full security of foreign citizens planning to come to Uman for Rosh Hashanah celebrations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has urged Hasidic pilgrims planning to make a pilgrimage to Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah to consider the impossibility of guaranteeing the full security of foreign citizens in Ukraine. This is stated in an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Russia's ongoing full-scale aggression against Ukraine for over four years, constant massive missile strikes on Ukrainian cities and communities, civilian and transport infrastructure, constant Russian terror, sabotage, and provocations pose real threats to people's lives and safety", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

They add that if Uman is visited despite the warnings from Ukrainian authorities, it should be taken into account that martial law is in effect in Ukraine, which involves a number of additional regulations, including restrictions on freedom of movement, a curfew, increased patrols, a ban on mass events and gatherings, as well as the use of enforcement measures against individuals who do not comply with the established restrictions.

Other circumstances to consider when planning trips to Ukraine:

overloaded ground transportation to Ukraine and possible transport delays due to shelling of transport infrastructure;
lack of sufficient civil protection facilities to shelter pilgrims in places of their mass gathering in Uman;
lack of sufficient medical personnel and medical facilities in Uman to provide medical care to pilgrims;

If necessary, for additional information and clarifications related to the pilgrimage to Uman, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends contacting the relevant ministries, services, and agencies: the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Cherkasy Regional State Administration, the Uman City Council.

For pilgrims arriving in the city of Uman, it is recommended to familiarize themselves with the information guide on the rules for paying tourism fees.
