Lviv will host the Independence Lecture for the sixth time on August 23. This year, it will be delivered by writer and veteran Artur Dron. The lecture topic is "Three and a Half Stories About Choice." "Your City" was informed about this by the Institute of Cultural Strategy.

"It won't be so much a lecture as an attempt to recall something important about ourselves together. To arm ourselves with these memories as we move into a new year of Independence. To talk about a few moments when Ukrainians as a community found themselves in situations where they had to do something almost impossible to move forward. And then they did the impossible. It seems to me that it will be valuable for us to remind ourselves that we can do that. But it's always a matter of choice. Sometimes very difficult, sacrificial, and binding" — says Artur Dron.

The event will take place on Sunday, August 23 at 6:30 PM on the territory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes Memorial, located at the intersection of Maksym Kryvonos and Zamkova streets in Lviv. In case of an air raid alert, there will be an opportunity to move to a nearby shelter.

We would like to add that "Your City" will broadcast the Independence Lecture on its platforms.

The Independence Lecture is a tradition initiated by the Institute of Cultural Strategy in 2021 for August 24, the date commemorating the restoration of Ukraine's Independence. They note that each year, together with invited lecturers, they aim to capture important issues and value orientations of Ukrainian society and to comprehend our past, present, and future.

The ICS holds the Independence Lecture with the support of the Lviv City Council within the framework of the municipal program "Responsibility to Be."
