Five athletes will represent Ukraine at the first-ever World Athletics Championship Finals. Qualification based on the world ranking concluded after its update on September 2. This is reported reported by Suspilne.
The competition will take place from September 11–13 in Budapest. Unlike the traditional World Championship, the number of participants here will be limited: up to eight athletes in non-track events and up to sixteen in track events. The tournament's prize fund is 10 million dollars.
Five track and field athletes will represent Ukraine at the tournament:
- Yaroslava Mahuchikh - high jump. She automatically received a license as the 2024 Olympic champion. Currently, the Ukrainian holds second place in the world rankings and has the best result of the season - 2.03 m.
- Oleh Doroshchuk - high jump. The Ukrainian tops the world rankings. This season, he set the world's best result - 2.33 m, which was later surpassed by American JuVaughn Harrison by one centimeter.
- Yuliia Levchenko - high jump. The world's third-ranked athlete in her discipline. The Ukrainian missed part of the season due to injury.
- Iryna Herashchenko - high jump. In 2026, the athlete returned to competition after pregnancy and repeated her personal best - 2.00 m at the Diamond League stage in Zurich.
- Mykhailo Kokhan - hammer throw. He holds fourth place in the world rankings. This season, Kokhan set a personal best - 82.38 m, and also won bronze at the 2026 European Championships.

The competition will feature winners of the latest Olympic Games, World Championship, and Diamond League, as well as the highest-ranked track and field athletes of the season. Some athletes received special invitations.
At the same time, the tournament will not have traditional award ceremonies or present medals. Winners will receive a special trophy designed for the competition, and all participants will receive symbolic bracelets.
