A high-speed railway track from Kyiv to the border with Poland would be constructed via Lviv according to European standards. This was stated in the announcement of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
It was noted that within the planned expenses of almost 5.5 billion hryvnias, allocated for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, the money will also be spent on a number of large-scale infrastructure projects.
In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers promises to modernize six regional airports, build Eurorails from Kyiv-Lviv-Sknyliv, complete the construction of a new medical and diagnostic complex in Okhmatdyt, and much more.
For the celebrations themselves, expenditures in the range of UAH 100 million were planned.
Regarding the «railway project», it is known that this year, the Ministry of Infrastructure plans to start building a European-style railway network, which will enable the launch of the latest models of trains reaching speeds of above 250 km/h.
The first of the planned sections should be a railway track with a length of almost two thousand kilometers, which will run from Kyiv via Lviv to the border.
If funding for the project is sufficient, the European integration of the Ukrainian railway network is planned to be completed by 2025.
