City council will work with sculptors and designers to reuse fallen trunks.

In Lviv, after two massive thunderstorms, many trees were damaged, among them some are of interest to many designers and even sculptors because of their shapes, according to Tvoemisto.tv by Oleksandra Sladkova, the head of the Management of Ecology and Natural Resources of Lviv City Council’s Department of Urban Development.

«[Entrepreneurs] approached us after two thunderstorms that occurred in Lviv in order to make furniture and various designer products from fallen trees. These are very rotten logs that cannot be used for firewood, and that’s it, because they are wet. Accordingly, the more interesting the stems, the more desire designers and sculptors have to do something with them», – says Oleksandra Sladkova.

For now, no logs were handed over to anyone, as experts are deciding how to make it with the benefit to a park.

«We are thinking about cooperation, for instance, the furniture designers do something for the park, like restoring some benches, and instead they can take away certain logs. Or just make some interesting products in the park from the same logs», – she adds.

Currently, the logs of trees are still lying in the parks, and they will remain there until it will be decided what could be done with them.

Let us recall that thunderstorms in Lviv on June 25 and 30 broke many trees. Smaller branches with leaves were taken en masse for processing in the communal company «Zelene misto» («Green City»). Still, there are many logs in the parks, which are not suitable for firewood due to excessive humidity.
