The Russian Ministry of Defense did now admit that their conscripts are fighting on the war against Ukraine until March 9, when the Ministry’s spokesman Igor Konashenkov reported about «several facts» of such cases, Liga.net wrote with the reference to the Russian official.
Still, the aggressor state does not provide any information about the captured Russian soldiers to its citizens, but relatives can identify them in the videos that are constantly appearing on the network. In one of them, Russian serviceman Damur Mustafayev says that instead of training, he and his colleagues were «deceived» and sent to fight in Ukraine. On the territory of the Chernihiv region, the tank in which Mustafayev was sitting broke down, and the military column abandoned him. Mustafayev went to «seek his people», but was taken captive.
Mustafayev’s father, Sabirzhon Mustafayev, according to Meduza, said that his son is a conscript soldier, although the Russian Defense Ministry and Vladimir Putin claim that only contract soldiers are fighting in Ukraine. He also reports that his son was signed as a contract soldier by his commanders, without his consent.
«My son was called in June 2021. He didn’t want a military career.» – he says. According to the father, Damur had problems with blood, so his military service was postponed two or three times. However, he took medicines, and last year was finally called.
«As a result, He was sent to serve near Chita, trained as a driver mechanic. After that, to Naro-Fominsk. It seems that then they began to participate in the exercises. In Voronezh, in the Belgorod and Kursk regions, they were scattered. I contacted him by phone. The last time was February 22. Everything seemed to be fine. And on the 24th, the order told him: «Go to the exercises.»
Sabirzhon says that his son was really a conscript. «I don’t know what happened to them. He said he didn’t sign the contract. But I was surprised: they can subscribe for them – or something like that. He said: «They signed us up as contractors themselves». This was when we spoke on the 22nd. I asked, «How can they do it themselves?» He said it was required. But he said he didn’t sign. Someone universal is required – for the entire battalion, company, unit. I didn’t ask who specifically.»
