Teddy Verona, a U.S. Marine who lives in Mexico, spoke with the Ukrainian Freedom News about why he came to Ukraine to fight and what it’s like in the trenches. It’s bleak.
He speaks of the valor of the Ukrainians defending their home against the Russian «barbarian horde.» The Russians, he said, leave their own to die in the agony.
On the motivation to come here: «I couldn’t enjoy anything,» he says. «I couldn’t enjoy going to Mass, I couldn’t enjoy eating well or having a drink while I knew that there was a… sovereign nation that has … been poorly served by many of its allies. I take a small piece of responsibility for that as a member of Western civilization.»
–On what Ukraine needs: «Just give a few Abrams to these committed Ukrainians, and you’ll rout entire Russian tank regiments.»
