The story of Tetyana’s family, which survived the shelling in Borodyanka in March 2022, was recently shared by UNICEF.

After their building was hit, the family left for western Ukraine. However, the woman could not find a job in the new place, so they all returned to Borodyanka.

Currently, a family with two children lives in a summer kitchen, which was given to them by a fellow villager for temporary accommodation. Tetyana returned to the kindergarten where she worked before the war. But now, all her salary goes to pay off the loan taken out to repair the now-destroyed apartment.

«We now dress and shoe children not according to size or season. We eat what good people give us. I want a happy future for my children. I don’t want them to be homeless,» – Tetyana admits.

In addition, UNICEF and partners are constantly working to expand programs to save the lives of children and their families in Ukraine. The organization notes that more than 280,000 children have already been provided with educational materials, and more than 1.7 million children and their families have received mental and psychosocial support. Almost 4 million people in the most affected regions received basic necessities and medicines.
