President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on May 20, where the situation in the Belarus – Bryansk region of the Russian Federation direction was separately considered.
According to him, it is from these territories that the Russian side may consider scenarios for additional attacks on northern Ukraine, specifically the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction.
Separately, as Zelenskyy noted, Ukraine is taking preventive steps regarding Belarus and certain regions of Russia that could potentially pose a threat.
In connection with this, a decision was made to strengthen the defense in the relevant sectors of the front. The military command, as well as the Ukrainian intelligence services, received additional tasks.
The president also emphasized the need for more active diplomatic work with Minsk and international partners to increase pressure and coordinate actions.
According to the head of state, intelligence received additional, non-public tasks to track these threats.
