A group of Polish public figures, journalists, artists, and activists announced the creation of the "Civic Order of the Future" for the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian people. As reported by Sestry.eu, the initiative was a reaction to the decision of Polish President Karol Nałęczowski to revoke the Order of the White Eagle, with which Zelensky was awarded in 2023.

The authors of the appeal called the Polish president's decision erroneous and one that plays into the hands of Russian propaganda. They emphasized that Ukrainians continue to fight not only for their own freedom and security but also for the security of Poland and all of Europe.

"We, as citizens of the Republic of Poland, want to present our own order. With this gesture, we show that the majority of Poles cannot be turned against Ukrainians. We have helped and will continue to help," stated the initiators.

The signatories also criticized the use of the Volhynian tragedy theme in Poland's internal political discussions and called for not prioritizing historical disputes over issues of common security.

The appeal recalled the large-scale support that Polish society provided to Ukrainians after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion and emphasized the need to build the future on cooperation, not on conflicts over the past.

Among the signatories of the initiative are director Agnieszka Holland, public figure Adam Michnik, leader of the Ukrainian community in Poland Natalia Panchenko, journalist Wojciech Tochman, and other well-known representatives of Polish civil society.

We remind you that on June 19, on social network X, the President of Poland, Karol Nałęczowski, announced the stripping of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle – Poland's highest state award, in connection with the naming of one of the Ukrainian units in honor of the UPA. He also stated that Poland will not allow those who do not understand the need to abandon the "cult of totalitarianism and violence" to join the EU.
