The design of the National Museum of the Dignity Revolution building is expected to take place in 2026–2028, and in May 2027, a memorial stele made of white granite is planned to be opened on Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Alley. This was reported by the National Memorial Complex of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – Museum of the Dignity Revolution.

The Museum noted that after the publication of information about public hearings, they received many questions from citizens, so they published detailed explanations regarding the three interconnected projects that were presented and supported by the discussion participants.

"After the publication of information about public hearings on the further implementation of the National Memorial Complex of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – Museum of the Dignity Revolution project, we received many questions. Therefore, we are explaining in more detail which decisions were presented and supported by the discussion participants. These are three interconnected projects aimed at ensuring the proper commemoration of the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and continuing the implementation of the National Memorial Complex ", – the statement reads.

Three memorial projects: details and implementation timelines

1. Improvement of the space near the Ecumenical Chapel (by the end of November 2026)

The first project involves the landscaping of the territory near the Ecumenical Chapel of Archangel Michael and the Ukrainian New Martyrs on Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Alley, 4. The structure is planned to be legalized, and its wooden elements require protection and professional intervention. The chapel will be installed on a foundation, provided with electricity and artistic lighting, and its space will be slightly adjusted according to the general design of the Memorial of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

The memorial composition with portraits of the fallen will also be updated:

"The update of the memorial composition with portraits of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred is also envisaged. The current temporary metal structure has significantly worn out over the years of operation. The families of the Heroes have repeatedly pointed out the inconvenience of laying flowers and votive candles due to its height. The new structure is planned to be made of art concrete, preserving all portraits", – reported the Museum.

This memorial with portraits will be arranged in a row next to the restored wooden cross, parts of which will be restored and reinforced.

2. Creation of a memorial stele (by Heroes' Day in May 2027)

The second project concerns the plot at Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Alley, 3.

"It is on this territory that the building of the National Museum of the Dignity Revolution is to be erected in the future. Until its construction, a memorial stele made of white granite is planned to be created on the plot next to the Museum building", – explained the institution.

The author of the concept will be architect Iryna Volynets – a representative of the winning team of the International Open Architectural Competition 2017–2018 in the "Memorial of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred" nomination.

As added by the department, the new exposition will be directly related to the competition project, which became the basis for the future Memorial, but which cannot be implemented now due to the arrest of these land plots at the request of investigators for the completion of investigative actions and ensuring court decisions in the cases of the shootings on the Maidan.

3. Resumption of Museum building design (2026–2028)

The third project is the resumption of the roadmap for work on the Museum building in accordance with the results of the 2017–2018 International Competition.

"During the public hearings, a roadmap for resuming work on the design of the Museum in accordance with the results of the International Open Architectural Competition 2017-2018 was presented. We remind you that the design officially began in 2021 in accordance with current legislation, but was halted after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia. Now this process is planned to be resumed. The estimated duration of the design work will be from one and a half to two years", – the statement says.

Funding model for the works

The implementation of the planned memorial projects will not require spending from the state budget. The improvement of the space near the chapel will be fully financed by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, and the creation of the memorial stele from white granite will be financed by benefactors and patrons.

The involvement of state funds is envisaged solely for the design of the Museum building itself, however, financing will be implemented using a mixed model with the support of donor organizations.

Project approval at public hearings

We remind you that at the beginning of 2023, the chapel building and adjacent elements were considered in the context of the overall preservation of architectural heritage and memory of the events of the Dignity Revolution. As reported, on June 20, the project of the National Memorial Complex of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred was approved at public hearings.
