President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held an official meeting with President of Poland Karol Nawrocki on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara. The conversation, according to the Ukrainian leader, lasted for more than an hour and was "important and necessary". This was reported by Zelensky.
These negotiations took place at a critically important moment, as relations between Kyiv and Warsaw have been going through a difficult period recently. Despite the strategic partnership and unequivocal support for Ukraine from Poland at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, a number of acute contradictions on a historical background have accumulated between the countries since then.

We remind you that Karol Nawrocki took away Volodymyr Zelensky's highest state award of Poland - the Order of the White Eagle. This order was awarded to Zelensky in April 2023 by the previous President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, during the official visit of the Ukrainian leader to Warsaw. The award was given for merits in deepening relations between the countries, strengthening security, and steadfastness in defending human rights.
