One of the largest and oldest oil refineries in Russia has suspended operations after a drone attack. This refers to the Lukoil-Nizhny Novgorodnefteorgsintez enterprise in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, which is among the country's largest refineries. This is reported by reported Reuters.
According to Reuters, after the drone attack, a key primary oil processing unit was damaged. As a result, the plant completely ceased processing raw materials from July 8. The plant's main primary processing unit AVT-6, which accounted for 53% of the enterprise's capacity, was damaged. Another unit, AVT-5, accounting for 25% of the plant's capacity, was disabled by a drone on June 24.
This is the fourth-largest oil refinery and the second-largest gasoline producer in Russia.

In 2024, the plant processed 5.8 million tons of oil, or 2.2% of Russia's total oil processing volume, producing 1.2 million tons of gasoline, 1.9 million tons of diesel fuel, and 1.0 million tons of fuel oil. According to Energy Intelligence estimates, oil processing volumes in Russia plummeted by 25% in June.
In recent months, other large Russian refineries have also been hit by drones, including:
- On June 16, Gazprom Neft's Moscow Refinery stopped processing; according to Reuters sources, its repairs could drag on until 2027;
- since June 12, Tatneft's TANECO refinery in Nizhnekamsk has been idle;
- on June 10, the Kuybyshev Refinery stopped;
- on June 1, the Volgograd Refinery.
We remind you that on the night of July 6 a Russian attack caused extensive destruction in Vyshneve, Kyiv region. According to preliminary estimates, 91 private houses were completely destroyed and are beyond repair, while another 47 require major repairs. In total, over 250 private and 27 apartment buildings were damaged. People died as a result of the strike and subsequent detonation, dozens of residents were injured, and some residents were forced to leave their homes.
