The Therapeutic Garden on the territory of VDNH in Kyiv has received international recognition, obtaining a Special Mention distinction from the prestigious Architizer A+Awards architectural competition in the Public Parks & Green Spaces category. This was reported reported by the urban bureau Big City Lab, which is one of the project's authors.

Expert assessment

The therapeutic garden project was created by the Big City Lab team in collaboration with the PUPA: life over space architectural bureau. The bureau noted that thanks to this distinction, the Kyiv space has been included in the gallery of the world's best architectural projects.

The winners were chosen by an international jury of over 250 experts who evaluated thousands of projects from more than 70 countries. Big City Lab emphasized that this distinction is an important achievement for all of Ukrainian architecture, as it confirms the importance of a comprehensive approach to creating public spaces through research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and dialogue with users.

What is known about the Therapeutic Garden at VDNH

The Therapeutic Garden on the territory of VDNH in Kyiv was opened in October 2025 as an accessible space for the psychological and physical recovery of veterans, military personnel, their families, and people affected by the war.

The main feature of the space is the concept of interaction through all five senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. It is based on the proven positive impact of nature on psychological health, stress reduction, and facilitating visitors' emotional and physical recovery.
