The Ukrainian power grid is moving toward restoration, the situation remains difficult in one area

As of 11:00 a.m. on December 7, the gradual restoration of the power system after the missile attack is underway. At the nuclear power plants, the specialists continue loading the blocks to the planned indicators after they were disconnected due to the power grid damage. This was reported by the state-owned Ukrainian energy company "Ukrenergo".

 

The situation is difficult in the east of the country, because last night, the enemy repeatedly fired at several energy infrastructure facilities at once, while the temperature in this region reached -17 degrees. At the moment, round-the-clock emergency repair works are ongoing.

Also, repair crews are working to eliminate the consequences of the missile attack in the Kyiv and Odesa regions, and are setting up power supply to the regions according to backup schemes. Overall in the country, the capacity deficit in the power system currently stands at 19% of projected consumption and will continue to persist, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal wrote in his Telegram on Tuesday. To compare, the capacity deficite was 30% on November 29, Ukrenergo stated. Before that, the last massive attack on Ukrainian energy facilities took place on November 23.

 

We will remind that as a result of another massive missile attack on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine on December 5, some power plants were damaged and will not be able to work at full capacity. The schedule of hourly shutdowns continues. Still, Ukrainian air defence managed to shot down 60 out of 70 missiles launched by Russians. On December 6, Ukrainian defence shot down 14 kamikaze drones, according to the General Staff of Ukraine.
