Three new international transport corridors will pass through the territory of the Lviv region. Their number was increased due to a significant percentage of transport shipments transported from abroad to Ukraine in transit. This was announced by the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.

«Since Lviv region has one of the most developed transport networks in Ukraine and is a transit corridor between EU countries, a significant percentage of transport passes through it. Therefore, this leads to an accumulation of vehicles and an increase in the time required to cross the border,» – said the head of Lviv Oblast.

Previously, two international corridors ran through the region:

  • Brussels – Aachen – Cologne – Dresden – Wroclaw – Katowice – Krakow – Lviv – Kyiv (Corridor No. 3)
  • Venice – Trieste/Koper – Ljubljana – Maribor – Budapest – Uzhhorod – Lviv – Kyiv. (Corridor No. 5)

The European Commission has joined Ukrainian logistics routes to the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), namely:

  • The North-Baltic Corridor was extended through Lviv and Kyiv to Mariupol;
  • The Baltic – Black Sea – Aegean corridor was extended through Lviv, Chernivtsi (Romania and Moldova) to Odesa;
  • The corridors Baltic Sea – Adriatic Sea and Rhine – Danube will pass through Lviv.

The Lviv Regional Military Administration notes that since sea air transportation is unavailable due to the war in Ukraine, and imports and exports are carried out by land, new corridors will allow to expand the geography of transport and improve logistics.

As noted by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, this is a strategic step in the process of integrating our country into the EU. It will also facilitate the export of Ukrainian products and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
