Time mentioned Olena Zelenska and human rights activist Oleksandra Matviychuk among the world’s hundred most influential people in 2023. The list was published on the magazin’s official website on Thursday, April 13.
«Olena Zelenska is a mother. Protector. The pride of her nation. A beacon of hope for the people she loves.» – the publication reads about Ukraine’s First Lady.
Oleksandra Matviychuk is described as a human rights lawyer who «devoted her life to protecting democracy. Oleksandra and her team at the Center for Civil Liberties – a human-rights organization based in Kyiv – have strived to make Ukraine more democratic and document Russia’s war crimes against civilians.»
The two Ukrainian women were ranked in the «Leaders» category. Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviychuk were put in the list together with U.S. President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, The Wall Street Journal journalist arrested in Russia, U.S. citizen Evan Hershkovich and others.
