During her speech in the US Congress on July 20, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska thanked the American government for strong support to Ukraine and appealed to help stop Russian terror and provide more weapons for Ukraine. This was reported by Ukrainian state media Ukrinform.
«We are sincerely grateful that the United States stands by us in the fight for our common values - human life and independence. You help us very powerfully. While Russia kills, America saves. And you should know about it. Thank you,» – she said.
At the same time, First Lady emphasized that the war is not over yet.
«I’m now asking for something I would never want to ask for. I am asking you for weapons! Weapons are not meant to wage war on someone else’s land, but to protect one’s home and the right to wake up alive in it,» – said Olena Zelenska.
First Lady also noted that she is also asking to provide Ukraine with air defense equipment. According to her, the United States know what terrorist attacks are and has always sought to defeat terrorism.
«So help us stop the terror against Ukrainians, and it will be our common great victory – in the name of life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness of every person, every family,» – she emphasized.
The President’s wife emphasized that this was not only her request, but also her husband’s.
«We want every father and every mother to be able to say to their child: sleep peacefully, there will be no more air strikes, no more missile strikes. Is that too much to wish for?» – she said.
It will be recalled that the wife of the President of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, is visiting Washington at the invitation of the First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden.
