The flow of people entering Ukraine has reached record numbers since the war began

Since May 9, Ukraine has indicated a record flow of people into the country during the whole period of a full-scale war. Namely, 61 thousand citizens have entered Ukraine for the last 8 days, the State Border Guard Service reported.

Over the past 24 hours, on May 17, 37,000 people entered Ukraine, among them 33,000 Ukrainians. At the same time, 31,000 people left the country. Of these, 18,000 went to Poland and the rest to Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova. During the same day, 18 thousand units of transport passed the Ukrainian border and 239 trucks with humanitarian aid were registered.

It should be noted that a month ago, the flow of people to Ukraine for the first time surpassed the number of those who went abroad. On April 16, 22,000 people crossed the border of Ukraine, while 19,200 people left.

We would also like to add that, according to the Polish Border Guard Service on Twitter, 26,000 people entered Ukraine from their country on May 17, compared to 26.8 the day before. In the opposite direction, the flow was 20 thousand compared to 19.2 thousand the previous day. In total, since the beginning of the war, 3.422 million people have arrived in Poland from Ukraine, while 1.358 million people have moved from Poland to Ukraine.

According to UNHCR, as of May 18, 6.36 million people have left Ukraine since the beginning of the war (excluding the flow of entry), including 3.4 million to Poland, 937 thousand to Romania, 466 thousand to Moldova, 850 thousand to Russia. Hungary accepted 620.8 thousand, Slovakia – 429.7 thousand, Belarus (data for May 12) – 27,31 thousand.
