Ukraine has appealed to the European Union with a request to exclude men of conscription age from the temporary protection program for refugees. This was announced by European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner during a press conference, writes hromadske.
According to him, EU countries support the extension of temporary protection for Ukrainians until 2028, but are simultaneously discussing "some changes in scope" of the program. Among these is the possible exclusion of men aged 23-60.
"And this is what Ukrainians are asking us for", Brunner said.

The European Commissioner clarified that this issue has already been discussed with countries that have accepted the largest number of Ukrainian refugees, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, the Baltic states, and Austria.
A final decision on possible changes may be made in the coming weeks.
We remind you that earlier the publication Euractiv, citing an internal document of the Council of the EU, reported that EU countries are considering the possibility of excluding Ukrainian men of conscription age from the temporary protection program after March 4, 2027.
