Two new nationwide polls have started in the "Diia" app. Until 18:00 on July 7, users can vote for Ukrainians who have made a significant contribution to the development of science, technology, culture, and society. This is reported by reported the press service of "Diia".
Two polls have opened in "Diia": "Ukrainians Who Changed Science and Technology" and "Ukrainians Who Changed Society and Culture." The winners will be presented in a new educational project for schools. Their portraits with QR codes will be placed first in schools in the Lviv region, and later throughout Ukraine. Using QR codes, students will be able to learn more about the discoveries, achievements, and contributions of outstanding Ukrainian men and women.
"You can vote for only one candidate in each category," according to the message.

In the "Ukrainians Who Changed Science and Technology" nomination, 15 candidates are presented:
- Lyubomyr Romankiv — scientist and IBM engineer, invented the technology for recording data on hard drives, which became the basis for the development of modern computers.
- Kateryna Yushchenko — pioneering programmer, created address language, one of the first programming languages in the world.
- Mykhailo Kravchuk — mathematician, founder of the school of Ukrainian rocket and space engineering designers, co-author of the first Ukrainian mathematical dictionary.
- Anatoliy Skorokhod — world-class mathematician, whose theorems and methods are used by scientists in various countries.
- Dmytro Grave — founder of the first major mathematical school in Ukraine, educated a generation of Ukrainian scientists.
- Ivan Horbachevsky — biochemist, the first in the world to synthesize uric acid in the laboratory, a Nobel Prize candidate.
- Heorhiy Kistiakivsky — physical chemist, participant in the Manhattan Project and scientific advisor to the President of the United States.
- Yosyp Tanatar — geologist, founder of the Dnipro scientific ore school, researcher of the Kryvyi Rih iron ore basin.
- Heorhiy Gamow — theoretical physicist, one of the authors of the Big Bang theory and a researcher of the genetic code.
- Oleksandr Smakula — physicist, invented the anti-reflective coating technology, which improved the quality of cameras, microscopes, and telescopes.
- Stepan Tymoshenko — founder of modern engineering mechanics, author of fundamental works on material strength.
- Mykola Pylchykov — physicist-inventor, remotely controlled devices using radio waves back at the end of the 19th century.
- Sofia Okunevska-Morachevska — one of the first female doctors in Eastern Europe, the first in Galicia to use radiation therapy for cancer treatment.
- Oleksandr Bohomolets — pathophysiologist, created a serum that accelerated tissue healing and bone fracture consolidation.
- Stepan Rudnytsky — founder of Ukrainian geography, created the first Ukrainian-language maps of Ukraine.
The "Ukrainians Who Changed Society and Culture" nomination list includes:
- Olena Stepaniv — one of the first female officers in the world, a flag bearer of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen and a geographer.
- Ahatanhel Krymsky — polyglot scholar, Orientalist, and one of the founders of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
- Olena Teliha — poet and activist of the Ukrainian movement, died at the hands of the Nazis in Babi Yar.
- Mykola Lukash — translator and linguist who introduced world literature into the Ukrainian language.
- Polina Rayko is a self-taught artist, one of the most famous representatives of Ukrainian naive art.
- Arkhip Kuindzhi is a painter from Mariupol, known worldwide as the "genius of light."
- Mykhailo Boychuk is an artist, founder of the Boychukism art movement, and a representative of the Executed Renaissance.
- Heorhiy Narbut is a graphic artist, creator of Ukrainian state symbols and the first Ukrainian banknotes.
- Alexander Archipenko is an innovative sculptor who pioneered Cubism in sculpture.
- Ivan Bobersky is an educator and founder of the Ukrainian physical education system.
- Igor Yukhnovsky is a theoretical physicist and statesman, the author of the idea for the referendum that confirmed Ukraine's independence.
- Olena Kurilo is a linguist, co-creator of the norms of the modern Ukrainian language and Ukrainian scientific terminology.
- Sofia Rusova is an educator and public figure who advocated for children's right to education in Ukrainian.
- Milena Rudnytska is a journalist and public figure who drew the world's attention to the Holodomor.
- Petro Mohyla is a metropolitan, reformer of education and the church, founder of the Kyiv-Mohyla Collegium.
All users of the "Diia" application can participate in the voting without age restrictions. To do this, you need to open the application, go to the "Services" → "Polls" section, select one or both polls, and support one candidate in each category.
After the voting is completed, the results will be available to all users.
