German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Russia cannot win the war against Ukraine militarily and called on allies to continue supporting Kyiv. He said this before the start of the second day of the NATO summit in Ankara, according to "Süddeutsche Zeitung".

"Russia has no chance of winning this war. They will not achieve their military goals, and the sooner we end this war, the better for Europe, the better for Russia, and the better for world peace," Merz said.

According to the chancellor, partner countries will continue to provide Ukraine with assistance in the war against Russia.

Earlier, Merz stated that Ukraine is now in a new position of strength on the battlefield, so Russia should start negotiations on freezing the front line.

The chancellor also reported that Germany at the NATO summit will advocate for new commitments from European partners regarding financial support for Ukraine.
