Ukraine, together with the American defense company Raytheon, will produce interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems. About the relevant agreements reported President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky following a meeting with a US delegation.
The meeting with the Raytheon team was led by company vice president Joseph Deantona. According to the head of state, Ukraine has been successfully using the American manufacturer's equipment for a long time to protect civilians and infrastructure from Russian missile attacks, but now the cooperation is reaching a new level.
The President also emphasized that this issue was previously discussed during a meeting with US President Donald Trump in Ankara, so both sides are now moving on to the practical implementation of the agreements.
Details of the partnership and next steps
In addition to missiles for the Patriot system, the parties also discussed other areas of cooperation, including the supply and development of non-offensive military equipment. To finalize the details of the agreement, Ukrainian government teams and representatives of the private sector will be in constant contact with Raytheon specialists.
Currently, technical groups from both countries are working on coordinating all legal and technological nuances of granting the license.
We remind you that Donald Trump announced his intention to grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot missiles on July 8 during a meeting with Zelensky in Ankara. The placement and processing of the order is expected to take from two to three months, according to preliminary estimates.
Earlier, Raytheon already signed a $3.7 billion agreement for the supply of GEM-T modified interceptors to Ukraine and is currently expanding its production capacity due to high global demand for these systems.
