On the night of July 30, during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, Poland put its air defense forces on high alert, scrambled fighter jets and an airborne early warning aircraft. The reason was intense activity of Russian long-range aviation and missile movements near the Polish border. This was reported reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
Also, according to data from "Wirtualna Polska," the Polish government preliminarily believes that a Russian missile may have fallen in the area of the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia.
Polish military noted that radars tracked at least a dozen missiles moving over western Ukraine, which could have posed a potential threat to Poland's airspace.
One of the aerial objects approached closest to the state border at 3:29 AM (4:29 AM Kyiv time) - about five kilometers away, after which it changed its flight direction and turned east.
In addition, at 3:40 AM (4:40 AM Kyiv time), an unidentified object moving in a westerly direction was detected in Polish airspace. An F-16 fighter jet was dispatched to the area for identification and possible interception. Six minutes later - at 3:46 AM (4:46 AM Kyiv time) - the object disappeared from radar without awaiting final identification.
To verify the information, a Mi-24 helicopter was sent to the area of the last recorded position. Its crew discovered the probable crash site of the object in an undeveloped area near the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship. A ground search and rescue team and other specialized services arrived at the scene. Search and security measures are ongoing there.
It should be noted that Tarnawa-Kolonia is located about 90-95 km from the border with Ukraine.
At the same time, air raid sirens were heard in the Lublin Voivodeship, particularly in Lublin. Around 3:50 AM (4:50 AM Kyiv time), local residents reported explosions and published relevant videos on social media. This is reported writes Wirtualna Polska.
According to the publication, citing a source in the Polish government, it is preliminarily believed that a Russian missile may have fallen in the area of the village of Tarnawa-Kolonia. At the same time, the examination of the discovered object is ongoing, so its origin has not yet been officially confirmed.
We remind you that around 4:45 AM on July 30, Russian troops carried out a missile attack on Lviv. Two residential buildings on Paton and Vyhovskyi streets suffered the most extensive damage. As of 8:40 AM, 30 people are known to have been injured.
